CNIL toward launching a compliance program for connected cars

According to CNIL the work should be completed next spring. However some elements of the program have been published already: Data that can be linked to an identified or identifiable natural person, in particular via the issue of the license plate or vehicle serial number is protected personal data. The program aims to raise economic actors in the automotive sector on the principles of transparency and fairness of data collection. A data protection by design approach ( “privacy by design”) should be preferred. furthermore, automakers should prfer using methods which involves processing data locally in the vehicle without transmission to the service provider.
